I've had this camera for a month now, got this to watch my new baby in his crib. If you have any networking skills or play with your router at all, this thing is a breeze. So.. not recommended for everyone, but definitely better than a baby cam for the tech savvy. The foscam app on the iphone4 works like a charm. I can watch the little guy in his crib from anywhere on the internet.. (you must be able to open ports on your router, and know your ip address, or have a domain name pointing to your IP). My wife loves it because she can look at him from any computer, and also on her IPhone4. It's great to be able to control the camera from the iphone. You only get sound on internet explorer.. Doesn't make a lot of sense for me. WHY would you make a product that is only full featured with active-x? I had a little trouble in the beginning with it dropping off the network a few times, but I think it was a problem with the router, (upgraded the firmware on the router to DDWRT, and everything has been smooth sailing since)

We have this one set up inside the house and while we are gone we can use an app on our ipad to move the camera around and look at all angles of this camera. If there is anyone in the house, we can take a photo...if you are watching the dogs or kids, you can take photos of them. You also can talk with them and / or hear what they are talking about and doing. You have to plug in an external speaker for them to hear you, but is doable. Great camera! Wish all our cameras had these capabilities. Records when action is detected, if you so desire also.

This camera works very well on your home network, and apparently lots of people can make it work nicely outside of their home network. I have a Mac and an Actiontec router with AT&T DSL service. I spent around 20 hours trying to configure this item to work remotely. I finally gave up and bought the Astak Mole, which works wonderfully! The FOSCAM requires either a static ip address, which will cost some bucks, or a subscription to a DDNS service (they say you can sign up for a free account, but that apparently is no longer an option). Also, the customer service with FOSCAM is virtually non-existent. The manual is translated from Chinese by, obviously, a Chinese person. You can pay FOSCAM about $60 to set up your camera for you...but honestly, in this day and age, shouldn't a product like this be easy to set up? The Astak Mole took me about 10 minutes to set up from opening the package to viewing it online. Remote viewing on the FOSCAM never worked for me.
