I initially left a four star review for this product, but over time its flaws became more evident and today I uninstalled it. It's going to recycling.It's a great idea, but it doesn't work. Here are the problems:1) Viewer quality poor. I think I can actually see who is at my door better with my original peephole.2) Picture quality terrible. The quality of the pictures that the Brinno took was so poor that I could not distinguish facial features.3) Lag. There is a noticeable lag when you turn on the viewer, which is annoying. When used in conjunction with the motion sensor to take pictures, it resulted mostly in pictures of people's backsides as they were leaving. It was difficult to find a position for the sensor where this was not the case. The sensor takes multiple pictures, so numerous pictures of people's backsides, people far away, or people whose facial features could not be distinguished.4) Picture taking happens whenever you press the viewer button. No way to disable. But I know who is at the door - I'm holding the button.5) No signal of battery status. Motion sensor picture taking chews the battery, but the only way you'll know battery status is when you try to use the viewer and it doesn't work. Then you can't see anything out the peephole, period.6) Battery cannot be changed unless the Brinno unit is removed from the door. This requires getting a screwdriver to loosen the tension screw.7) No signal of card status. Can't tell when you need to check or delete things from the memory card.The motion sensor is still firmly glued outside my door, which in most cases would be a feature, but I am now left with the prospect of Dremeling it off, with damage to the paint.An expensive failed experiment. This technology is not yet market ready.

While this peephole viewer is better than the Cannon Security brand, it still doesn't quite live up to the advertising. Installation was quite easy and the instructions were great. The main problem is that the picture is overexposed, even with indirect lighting and anyone at the door looked like a silhouette, their features hard to discern. I liked the picture taking ability but you've got to provide your own 32G micro SD card. The night enhancement was OK. Overall, not worth the price, but better than Cannon's.

A great product. It is easy to install and functions well. Since I leave the porch light on at night, the visual on the monitor is very close to the normal daylight view. The only issue I have with this product is the plastic snap ring that installs on the inside of the door to lock the monitor portion to the peephole. The monitor requires a quarter turn to lock to the snap ring after it is installed with the peephole. If the snap ring is not locked down tight to the peephole, it turns with the monitor portion. The key provided to secure the peephole is not made to allow for an over tightening of the snap ring to the peephole. The batteries are installed on the monitor side, you have to remove this portion of the unit to replace the batteries. If the snap ring isn't secured tightly, it will turn and you will never get the monitor portion off without damaging the unit ( a hard lesson learned ). My fix was to add a small nail through the snap ring into the door. This way the ring will not rotate when installing or removing the monitor.
