Most of my experience has been with the also popular Foscam. We tried out the Agasio A512-POE and saw the difference immediately. The main feature are the Power Over Ethernet capability, IR-CUT filter for true color images which is an enhancement over "Foscam" cameras which do not have the IR-cut. Lack of the IR-cut causes the colors, especially green to be "washed out". Another great feature, which is better than Foscam is the auto-brightness adjustment which automatically adjusts the brightness depending on lighting conditions. This is something the Foscam does not have. I highly recommend this cam!

Software was generic and got the job done. Was only 15 megs to install/configure the camera.Like with any webcam, you could NAT into your local area network, control this cam with ease etc. I could even control it over a smart phone. The user interface to control etc, was split into 4 options. IE/Google Chrome and MAC/Firefox/Smartphone.Firmware -- What fireware. Even the website didn't offer any updates.I plugged this into a Cisco 3650 PoE switch as I have been preparing for my 'NA and I seriously want to say it burned the unit out. After about 6 months of use I'd say this started to act up. 1 yr into it, boat ancor. It's too bad because it's hard to find something decent without dropping $300+ and this did perform pretty good in the begining for what I was using it for (nursery cam).

The camera will reset after a few hours, and the IR feature will require user to set to "on" Or, the audio will stop after 4-5 hours of operation, and require the user to reset the camera. Additionally, the web interface for internet explorer is not good and the configuration features don't grey on or off properly, and the user doesn't know if audio is working or not, unless someone goes the place where the camera sits, and talks into the camera. Basically, Agasio HAS NOT tested this product well, and just pushed it out the door with little regard to reliability. This camera is NOT suitable for a child monitor. I have not checked their website for firmware updates yet, but their own literature sent with the camera discourages firmware upgrades and says it could damage the camera.... Don't waste your money.
