Pros:- Was not difficult to set-up and some of the advanced features were easy to set-up with a technical background by using the web interface.- Works great with iSpy software.Cons:- Like other people who wrote reviews on the FosCam outdoor models like this one, I agree the plug end is large and difficult to deal with. The plug does not disconnect so if you want to thread it through a wall you have to drill a whole as large as an Ethernet port to get it through.- Not an option to PoE (Power over Ethernet) as far as I can tell. This was not a huge deal as I was going to plug it into the wall and use the wireless option.- Mounting bracket is a little wobbly.

By T Trennepohl
From other reviews, I knew I might encounter software installation problems with the IP part. I have considerable DYI experience and computer/router experience as well, but was not able to get the software (IP addressing specifically) working. I was able to get live video rather quickly. I think due to my ISP providing only a dynamic IP address vs. a static IP address contributed to the failed IP software installation. I even have a site through dysdns.org lingering out there. The quick-installation guide and Owner's Manual(both available as pdf) were not helpful. In preparation for potential IP software installation problems, before purchasing the Foscam camera, I reviewed the Foscam website that touted one-year free customer support if its products were purchased through one of its authorized resellers and for which the Foscam website identified Amazon as qualifying for the one-year free customer support. I contacted Foscam, it wanted $59.95 to net-op into my laptop to install its product. NO WAY would I let a third party net-op into my computer on which I conduct financial transactions, etc..Be cautious before purchasing Foscam IP cameras. Its non-IP cameras might be acceptable. I understand Agasio is a sister-company with Foscam. I do not have experience to report on Agasio products.Frankly, I do not know which camera(s) to purchase for my needs/wants:wireless IP, viewable over internet connection and smartphone, motion detection (that could be used to trigger recording from a monitor onto SD card), email notification, exterior installation (under protection of soffit/eaves), but mounted on the house wall, Windows 7 compatible, IR cut filter, color images, 40-60 degree FOV, IR for night, ... other than those specs, the other specs are not too important (not make-or-break the purchase). If the Lorex LW491 System was IP, it might be just right. Thanks for your consideration in reading this. Good luck with your research, reviews, and purchase(s).
